Behind AI: Building 44ai

I sat down with Elias Loibl for my first ever podcast episode, on Behind AI. At 44ai we build the medical intelligence layer for hospitals on models we control, deployed on-premise, at a fixed price.

We talked for more than an hour about working in the healthcare sector as an AI startup, interacting with hospital customers and the challenges that come with that.

Getting so much time to dig into everything was really refreshing to me, because a 20 minute conversation almost can't do justice to all the aspects, and there is still more I could talk about! So I definitely felt like I was gaining steam the longer we went on (though we did have a break in the middle).

After the initial topic preparation, it turned out to be a really good idea to write the general plan of topics on a whiteboard that stood behind the camera.

We got into regulation and policy in the EU and Switzerland, how we handle hallucinations in clinical documentation, and what it takes to deploy on-premise in a hospital.
